Waste sorting and separation are processes aimed at
categorizing and isolating waste based on its type and nature.
This process occurs in two main stages:
-Household sorting: It starts at the household level, where
individuals are responsible for the initial waste segregation.

-Sorting at specialized centers: In these facilities, waste
is classified either manually for large items like cardboard boxes or
mechanically using rotating sieves to separate smaller waste. Magnets are also
employed to extract certain metals.
Once sorted and collected, the waste is transported to recycling centers, where an attempt is made to repurpose it. As for non-recyclable or unusable waste, it is either incinerated or buried to reduce its environmental impact.
